Brendan McCaffrey, sports director for 670 The Score is leaving Chicago for New York, joining SiriusXM as a producer for NFL Radio.
McCaffrey’s decade long tenure at The Score saw him work his way up from an intern to one of the more versatile employees at the station. His official title at The Score was sports director, but McCaffrey’s responsibilities included that of an assistant program director to Mitch Rosen, as well as a host, writer and producer.
“It is hard putting into words what Brendan McCaffrey has meant to The Score for the last 10-plus years because B-Mac has done just about everything at the station, and knows more about the inner-workings more than anyone,” wrote Mitch Rosen, operations director of The Score, in a memo to 670 employees.
According to 670 The Score afternoon co-host Danny Parkins, McCaffrey’s wife has family on the east coast which may have contributed to the decision to join SiriusXM’s NFL Radio.
“I’ve been so overwhelmed that I haven’t posted much publicly. Too many people to thank, too many people played a hand in making me look competent and not a total idiot. Hope I made a few of you laugh too! Thanks to Mitch for hiring me and many others!” wrote McCaffrey on Twitter.
Mccaffrey’s final day as assistant program director of The Score came on last Friday. 670 The Score’s afternoon show, McNeil & Parkins spoke about McCaffrey’s tenure and departure from the station late in the second hour of Friday’s program, which can be heard here.
