As the Boston Bruins head to their third Stanley Cup Finals in nine years, one Toronto radio host is tired of watching Boston’s sports dominance in recent years.
“Miserable. Absolutely miserable,” said TSN 1050’s morning show host Carlo Colaiacovo. “It stinks. As a Leafs fan, as a human fan. How about that? How about just a humanity fan of that city just getting all of these championships and Marchand getting celebrated again and Chara just being a big giant troll, who spends his off-time fleeing from peasants and eating children. I don’t like any of it.” Referring to Brad Marchand and Zdeno Chara, two Boston Bruins who apparently, are not popular in Toronto.
Carlo Colaiacovo is a retired NHL player and former first round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Last September, Colaiacovo joined TSN 1050 to co-host the station’s morning show with Michael Landsberg.
“It’s hard not to feel a little sickened by it for a couple of reasons, number one the Leafs’ and the Bruins’ rivalry,” said the 1050 morning show, which confused Scott Zolak and Marc Bertrand on Boston’s 98.5 The Sports Hub because they had no idea Toronto had a rivalry with the Bruins.
“If we believe in socialism we need to spread those things around,” Colaiacovo later added.
“We don’t believe in socialism,” said Rob ‘Hardy’ Poole, the third voice on 98.5’s Boston midday show, Zolak and Bertrand. Boston has no plans to offer their championships to any other sports franchise as the Bruins attempt to bring the city its, astounding 13th title this century.
Still, not all was “miserable” for Colaiacovo, as he later sent a congratulatory Tweet to his former teammate and current Boston Bruin David Backes.
First Up with Landsberg and Colaiacovo broadcasts each weekday on TSN 1050 in Toronto from 6 – 10am ET.
