The Portland Trail Blazers announced Michael Holton will have an expanded role with their team of broadcasters this season, contributing as their lead radio analyst for the team’s full 82-game schedule. The Trail Blazers Radio Network consists of more than a dozen affiliates including their flagship station, Rip City Radio 620AM.
The Northwest native has a long history with basketball in the area, having played two seasons with the Trail Blazers and leading the University of Portland men’s basketball program as their head coach from 2001 – 2006. For the last two years, Holton worked as an analyst on Blazers radio broadcasts for home games only. Holton’s increased schedule is part of an overhaul for The Blazers Radio Network which includes Travis Demers taking over for their longtime play-by-play voice Brian Wheeler.
“Michael’s long-standing with the team offers Trail Blazers fans a very unique and in-depth perspective,” said the team’s President and CEO Chris McGowan. “His experience at all levels of basketball from player to head coach make him the perfect analyst and compliment to Travis Demers on play-by-play.”
In addition to working home games on The Blazers Radio Network for the last two seasons, Holton has contributed as an in-studio analyst during both road and home telecasts for 12 years. Holton’s new role will flip those responsibilities, now seeing the broadcaster work in the TV-studio for home games only and as their lead radio analyst for the entire 82-game schedule.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity to broadcast all 82 games alongside Travis Demers this season,” said Holton. “I look forward to providing analysis for our great fans in what promises to be a very exciting and intriguing season.”

Stan Norfleet To Replace N.D. Kalu On SportsTalk 790 in Houston
“My affinity for Space City spans nearly two decades and I look forward to connecting with old friends and new listeners in the market.”
Change is afoot at SportsTalk 790 in Houston. Chris Gordy will have a new co-host in middays as N.D. Kalu exits and Stan Norfleet comes aboard for Next Up.
Kalu, a former Houston Texans defensive end, has decided to leave radio behind. Instead, he will focus on his real estate business.
“N.D. is a tremendous talent and one of the most down-to-earth people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. He will be missed,” said iHeartMedia Houston’s head of AM programming, Bryan Erickson.
Stan Norfleet comes to Houston after most recently being on WFNZ in Charlotte. He is no stranger to Texas, though. He finished his college football career at Texas Southern University. He also worked in the sales departments for both the Rockets and the Texans.
“It is a tremendous blessing and honor to join the renowned iHeartMedia Houston family. I have long been a fan and avid listener of Sportstalk 790 and respect the history and contributions of its personalities,” Stan Norfleet said in a press release. “My affinity for Space City spans nearly two decades and I look forward to connecting with old friends and new listeners in the market.”
In addition to his time on air in Charlotte, Norfleet has also been heard on 92.9 The Game in Atlanta and seen on Raycom’s regionally syndicated ACC Network. He is also a former columnist at BSM.
“Stan brings amazing passion to everything he does,” said Erickson. “He has strong local ties and we’re thrilled to add him to the team.”
