The DC Defenders will have a radio partnership for the upcoming inaugural XFL season, making Entercom’s 106.7 The Fan their flagship station.
According to the announcement by 106.7 The Fan, the station will carry four Defenders’ games from start to finish. All games will also be carried by Entercom’s digital platform RADIO.COM, with four of them being available through streaming only. The remaining two games in the Defenders’ 10-week schedule will begin on RADIO.COM, but joined in progress by The Fan.
106.7 The Fan midday co-host Grant Paulsen will work as the Defenders’ radio play-by-play announcer. A station employee since they flipped to sports in 2009, Paulsen and his 106.7 The Fan co-host Danny Rouhier took over the midday timeslot in 2014, where they continue today from 10am – 2pm.
On the call for the Defenders, the Grant and Danny co-host will be joined by former NFL tight-end Logan Paulsen as the broadcast’s analyst. After an eight-year NFL career including five-seasons with the Redskins, Paulsen retired in 2018 with 91 career receptions.
The Defenders join the Seattle Dragons and Houston Roughnecks as XFL teams to announce their radio home for the league’s inaugural season. The St. Louis Battlehawks recently stated they won’t have a flagship radio partner, instead focusing on their social media presence. Other cities with XFL teams are Tampa Bay, New York, Dallas and Los Angeles.
