Two major television networks skipped Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation Monday. CNN and MSNBC chose not to air the historic event which confirmed only the fifth woman to the Supreme Court.
CNN chose not to air multiple days of Barrett’s confirmation hearing instead focusing its attention on Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee. MSNBC offered only brief glimpses of the proceedings.
Both networks covered President Trump’s celebration at the White House commemorating Barrett’s nomination. That event was dubbed a super-spreader event based on the number of people who attended the ceremony and were diagnosed with COVID-19.
Monday’s 52-48 vote was historic in every sense. The vote represented the closest high court confirmation ever to a presidential election, and the first in modern times with no support from the minority party.
Last week, CNN chose not to air the FBI news conference revealing efforts by Iran and Russia to interfere in the 2020 election.

CNN is shifting from being a hard opinion news channel to a bipartisan one focusing on journalism’s aspects. Under new President Chris Licht, the network focuses on facts rather than ratings, but those viewer numbers are reportedly taking a hit.
The New York Post reports that those within the company are freaking out about declining ratings despite new management not remaining calm. One source told The Post that the ratings are taking a hit after extracting such “sensational” and “delicious” details that are common for cable news.
“The problem is we are not a neutral country,” the source said to The Post. “The ratings are getting worse because they are taking out all the bells and whistles. CNN’s ratings are as bad as local news ratings.”
“New management is not freaking out, but everyone else at CNN is. They want to fix the shows first, but they don’t realize the shows and ratings are connected.”
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said that CNN is revitalizing its emphasis on “journalism,” signaling he wants the news channel to supply straight news that appeals to conservatives.
“I think Chris is doing a great job pivoting CNN,” Zaslav said to Variety. “Journalism first. America needs a news network where everybody can come and be heard; Republicans, Democrats. I think you’re seeing more of that at CNN.”
“I think it’s the greatest news brand in the world with the greatest journalists. And we’re going to lean into that. We’re not going to look at the ratings and, in the long run, it’s going to be worth more.”

CNN White House Correspondent Kaitlan Collins has a new responsibility as she was named the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association in 2024 after she was elected to a three-year term on its board.
Francesca Chambers of USA Today finished in second place as she lost by a vote of 240 – 201 to Collins, who will now lead the association. Plenty of peers in media and the WCHA congratulated Collins on her new position.
“Congratulations to Kaitlan Collins, elected today to a three-year term on the WHCA Board and to serve as WHCA President in the third year, 2024-2025,” the WHCA tweeted.
“A huge thanks to my fellow members of the White House Correspondents’ Association for this vote of confidence. I am honored, humbled, and ready to get to work!” Collins tweeted about the announcement.
Collins has been at CNN since 2017 after she left The Daily Caller to join the cable news channel. Upon becoming the White House Correspondent, she became a prominent figure in the briefing room during the term of former President Donald Trump.
Jim Cramer, “Mad Money” Are Moving to the New York Stock Exchange

CNBC’s “Mad Money” will have a new look as the network announced that Jim Cramer and the show are moving from the network’s headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, N.J., to the New York Stock Exchange, per TV Newser.
The move will occur on July 18th, and Cramer will move into a new studio on the NYSE’s trading floor next to the bell podium. The new studio set will contain the NYSE’s distinctive architectural features and state-of-the-art interactive technology. Furthermore, the iconic Mad Money soundboard will be there too.
“I came to Wall Street forty years ago and fell in love with it instantly,” said Cramer. “The New York Stock Exchange is the pinnacle of capitalism, and I am ecstatic and elated to be back home.”
As part of this move, a new studio isn’t the only fresh look the show will get, as there will also be an updated graphics package. It will feature a new color palette, a modern look and feel, and a more streamlined procedure for delivering content and news.
“Jim Cramer and the New York Stock Exchange are two of the most recognizable names on Wall Street,” CNBC chairman Mark Hoffman said in a statement.
