After 14 years with NBC Sports, NHL Analyst Mike Milbury has parted ways with the networks, according to The Wrap.
“We are grateful to Mike for all of his contributions to our coverage for 14 years, but he will not be returning to our NHL announce team,” NBC Sports said in a statement. “We wish him well.”
NBC Sports unveiled its commentators for the 2020-21 season on Monday and according to a tweet from Richard Deitsch, Mike Babcock may be Milbury’s replacement.
The firing comes months after Milbury stepped away from the broadcast booth during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs after referring to women as a distraction to players.
Immediately after Milbury made what many deemed an ‘insensitive’ and ‘insulting’ comment, NBC Sports and the NHL condemned Milbury, resulting in speculation about his future with the network.
