Nationally syndicated talk show host and founder of Outkick.com Clay Travis has never shied away from offering strong opinions on controversial topics in the world of news and sports. Though he was on vacation in Cancun from his radio program, which is being hosted by Jonas Knox until Travis returns to the studio, that did not stop Travis from taking to twitter to criticize CNN’s Chris Cuomo and his reasoning for not covering his brother (New York Governor) Andrew Cuomo’s sex scandals.
Chris Cuomo offered an explanation to viewers as to why he can’t cover his brother during the opening of his show Cuomo Primetime Monday evening.
“You have always been straight with me, so let me be straight with you,” Cuomo said. “Obviously, I am aware of what is going on with my brother. And obviously, I cannot cover it because he is my brother (presumably due to conflict of interest). Now, of course, CNN has to cover it. They have covered it extensively, and they will continue to do so. I have always cared very deeply about these issues, and profoundly so. I just wanted to tell you that.”
Cuomo’s explanation did not hold water with Travis, however.
“Patron saint of the coronabros Andrew Cuomo, has now been accused of sexual harassment by a third woman, prompting Chris Cuomo to make an on-air explanation of why he isn’t covering this issue,” Travis wrote on Twitter. “As bad as this is for the Cuomos, it may be worse for CNN.”
According to a CNN press release though, the network is in good shape, claiming that January 2021 was the most watched month in the network’s history. That did not stop Travis, however, from going after Cuomo and claiming the situation was a disaster for CNN.
“CNN spent all of last year turning Andrew Cuomo into a COVID superhero via hits on his brother’s show despite all the facts showing he’d done the worst job of any elected official in America. Now Chris suddenly can’t cover him? Total disaster for CNN.”
