KMOX Interested in Tim McKernan as Rush Limbaugh’s Replacement

“He’s definitely here for the rest of the year, that I can promise,” KFNS general manager John Hadley told the Post on Thursday. “It is not in question. And my intention is to extend him.”

With the recent death of longtime radio host Rush Limbaugh, KMOX in St. Louis is looking for someone to fill his timeslot.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the station is interested in Tim McKernan, co-host of the Morning After at St. Louis’ KFNS 590 The Fan and owner of insideSTL Enterprises. The report notes that KMOX is working to appeal to a younger audience while also becoming less political, and McKernan has a track record of reaching that demographic.

McKernan declined to comment when the Post reached out, but it’s believed that he turned down the offer and will remain at KFNS until his contract is up in December.

“He’s definitely here for the rest of the year, that I can promise,” KFNS general manager John Hadley told the Post on Thursday. “It is not in question. And my intention is to extend him.”

However, McKernan was given permission by Hadley to explore outside opportunities. Sources told the Post that McKernan has talked to several local radio outlets, including Hubbard Radio.
