One of college basketball’s legends is getting the full red carpet treatment from ACC Network. Roy Williams announced his retirement from college basketball last Thursday, prompting the Roy Williams Retirement Tribute.
ACC Network is dedicating 12-plus hours of programming to Williams, the head coach at North Carolina over the past 18 seasons. The event tips off at 1 p.m. ET with four consecutive ACC games played during Williams time on the bench. The action includes three UNC-Duke contests and the 2011 ACC Tournament battle between Miami and UNC.
Following the hardwood action, viewers get a firsthand look at how Williams ran his basketball team on All Access with Carolina Basketball which runs until 2 a.m. ET.
Williams was a college head coach for 33 seasons, getting his start at Kansas in 1988 and taking over at UNC in 2003, where he would go on to win 3 national championships. He finished with 903 career wins, the fourth most all-time. He is the only coach ever to win 400-plus games at two different schools.
