Over the last couple of weeks, Meadowlark Media has announced several names such as Jemele Hill, Mike Schur, and Adam McKay, who are jumping on board to contribute to the startup media outlet.
The next name to join the growing list of contributors to the project is another person with ESPN ties. Adnan Virk will bring his podcast “Cinephile” to Meadowlark, as first reported by The Wrap. Virk appeared on Dan Le Batard’s “South Beach Sessions” to discuss the move.
“Of all the things I’ve done in my career, working at ESPN or MLB Network or DAZN or The GM Shuffle, my NFL pod, Cinephile might be the one I take the most pride in,” Virk said. “You hear that expression often, ‘a labor of love.’ But there’s no laboring here. It’s all love.”
Virk worked under Meadowlark CEO John Skipper while at ESPN before leaving the network in 2019, and the former president of the sports network is more than happy to have Virk join this project.
“Adnan is a unique talent – the kind of broadcaster who can thrive in any sport and in any environment,” Skipper said. “We’re thrilled for the opportunity to welcome a friend who offers a diverse voice and shares our desire to create high-quality content that pushes beyond the boundaries of sports.”
Virk will be a regular contributor to Meadowlark beginning in July.
