Former New Mexico Basketball Coach Paul Weir Making Appearances On 101.7 The Team

“In addition to leading the Lobos for the last four seasons, he spent ten years at New Mexico State, first as an assistant and then leading the Aggies into the NCAA Tournament in the 2016-2017 season.”

Paul Weir was let go by the New Mexico Lobos after this past basketball season. It didn’t take him long to find something to keep him busy in Alburquerque though. The former coach has made regular appearances with Joe O’Neill during afternoon drive on 101.7 The Team.

Weir has already made four appearances on the station. He is a natural choice for New Mexico sports talk. In addition to leading the Lobos for the last four seasons, he spent ten years at New Mexico State, first as an assistant and then leading the Aggies into the NCAA Tournament in the 2016-2017 season.

O’Neill has been hosting the afternoon show for most of the past year. The station owner went back behind the mic after station cuts were required due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

  1. Hard to tell who is more desperate, a failed coach Weir or a failing 101.7 radio station and its owner. Comical.
