The Mount Rushmore of NBA Draft classes – 1984, 1985, 1996 and 2003. And on Sunday, April 11, NBA TV will premiere a two-part special on the ’96 group.
Ready or Not: The 96 NBA Draft will air at 8pm ET, depicting one of the strongest Draft classes in NBA history. Four Naismith Basketball Hall of Famers and 61 NBA All-Star appearances came out of that Draft, starting with the first overall pick Allen Iverson.
Ray Allen, Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash would follow as fellow Hall-of-Famers, with other notables including Stephon Marbury, Antoine Walker, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Jermaine O’Neal, Peja Stojakovic, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Marcus Camby. And although he wasn’t an All-Star, don’t forget about Mark Hendrickson who left the NBA after four seasons to have a 10-year career as a Major League Baseball pitcher.
According to the press release, the documentary will offer “rare pre-Draft footage, candid moments from the green room, plus interviews with more than 30 former NBA players, coaches and executives, including Iverson, Allen, Nash, Jerry West and Rick Pitino.”
In addition to NBA TV, the documentary will also be available on NBA.com and the NBA app.
