America Ferrera: VP’s Comments on Immigration Slap in the Face

The emmy Award-winning actress made an appearance on The View, where she provided her thoughts on what Harris said earlier in the week.

Vice President Kamala Harris visited Guatemala and Mexico this week where she made comments regarding immigrants looking to head towards the Mexico-United States border that didn’t sit well with some people, including actress America Ferrera.

“I want to be clear to folks in the region who are thinking about making that dangerous trek to the United States-Mexico border: Do not come. Do not come,” Harris said.

The emmy Award-winning actress made an appearance on The View, where she provided her thoughts on what Harris said earlier in the week.

“Well, I had so many thoughts, but first and foremost, extreme disappointment and confusion at just how useless and futile and ineffective a strategy that is,” Ferrera said. “I know that Vice President Harris knows the stories too.”

“I have spent many years sitting in shelters, detention centers on this side of the border and on the other side of the border with, you know, Honduran families, Mexican families, Guatemalan families — hearing the stories of the violent and life-threatening circumstances they’re fleeing.”

The actress didn’t only share her disappointment and criticism of the vice president; she went after the entire Biden administration for adhering to the same immigration stance that the United States has used for decades.

“Quite honestly, as somebody who campaigned for, rallied, and voted for Biden and Harris — it’s a slap in the face for all of the immigrant advocates who believed, you know, what they promised, which was change and compassion,” Ferrera said.

“So they know better and they should do better and I’m not under the impression, never was, that we were electing perfect people.”

Putin Laughs at NBC Reporter’s Question Asking if He’s a “Killer”

The question is a follow up to Biden’s statement in an ABC News interview in March where he called Putin a “killer.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin sat down with NBC reporter Keir Simmons for an in-depth interview. One of the first questions Simmons asked Putin if he was a “killer,” which caused him to laugh.

“Mr. President, are you a killer?” Simmons asked.

“Over my tenure, I’ve gotten used to attacks from all kinds of angles and from all kinds of areas under all kinds of pretext and reasons and at different caliber and fierceness, and none of it surprises me,” Putin responded.

Simmons pressed the president once more with the question, but he avoided the question. “Sentiments in terms of who calls someone what kind of labels, this is not something I worry about in the least,” Putin said.

The question is a follow-up to Biden’s statement in an ABC News interview in March. Biden went on to call the Russian president a “killer.”

Russia has demanded that President Biden apologize for the remark, though Putin stated the comments do not hurt him.

Tensions within Russia and the U.S. relationship are at an all-time high, but Putin said in the NBC interview that he is hopeful about working with Biden.

The two presidents have their first meeting next week. Biden expects to confront the Russian president on cyberattacks from Russian groups, Ukraine, and the treatment of jailed Kremlin opponent leader Alexei Navalny, along with other issues.

In the last year, MSNBC Joe Scarborough compared former President Donald Trump to the Russian politician using that killer narrative. The host stated that Trump “would kill reporters if he could get away with it.”

California Republican gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner was the target of a joke by late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.

During a segment on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” the comedian poked fun at Jenner’s appearance on “The View” last week and referred to her as “Trump in a wig.”

“Are we sure that isn’t Donald Trump in a Caitlyn Jenner wig?” Kimmel asked as he posted side-by-side images that showed them doing similar facial expressions. “The resemblance is uncanny.”

Kimmel proceeded to call the rest of Jenner’s interview “nonsense,” insisting the reality star is in the governor’s race only for attention and naming her “Caitlyn Jenner Car-crash-ian.”

Jenner didn’t stand pat and took to Twitter, where she responded to Kimmel’s jokes about her in his monologue.

“Last night @jimmykimmel called me Donald Trump with a wig,” Jenner tweeted. “He obviously believes that trans women are simply men with wigs on. Where is the outrage from the left or LGBT community? Being WOKE must be optional if you are a Democrat.”

Jenner continued to call out Kimmel in a follow-up tweet, including one where she scrutinized him for wearing blackface during a Comedy Central skit years ago.

“Speaking of @jimmykimmel he also received a pass from the WOKE on his use of black face and racist actions. Hypocrite,” Jenner tweeted.

The reality star has been making the interview rounds in the media for her campaign. Jenner recently sat down with Fox News host Sean Hannity to discuss her potential policies.

CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin Makes First Appearance in Eight Months

After eight months away from the network, Toobin has returned. The contributor made an appearance on “CNN Newsroom” where he addressed the elephant in the room.

Last October, CNN placed its Legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin on leave after exposing himself on a Zoom call with colleagues at The New Yorker, where he has worked for the last 27 years.

“I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers,” Toobin said at the time. “I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video.”

Eight months away from the network, the Toobin has returned, per a CNN report. The contributor made an appearance on “CNN Newsroom” where he addressed the elephant in the room.

“I’m sorry to the people who read my work and who watched me on CNN who thought I was a better person than this. And so, you know, I got a lot to rebuild, but I feel very privileged and very lucky that I’m going to be able to try to do that,” Toobin said.

Furthermore, Toobin discussed his firing from The New Yorker, a decision that he felt was “excessive punishment.” Meanwhile, CNN took a different approach as they let Toobin take a leave of absence.

Some anchors and hosts at CNN also expressed a desire to have the contributor back; however, the analyst understands that not many will welcome him back on the air.

“I live in the world. I know social media, what the reactions are likely to be,” Toobin said. “I hope they will at least be mixed.”
