America Ferrera: VP’s Comments on Immigration Slap in the Face

The emmy Award-winning actress made an appearance on The View, where she provided her thoughts on what Harris said earlier in the week.

Vice President Kamala Harris visited Guatemala and Mexico this week where she made comments regarding immigrants looking to head towards the Mexico-United States border that didn’t sit well with some people, including actress America Ferrera.

“I want to be clear to folks in the region who are thinking about making that dangerous trek to the United States-Mexico border: Do not come. Do not come,” Harris said.

The emmy Award-winning actress made an appearance on The View, where she provided her thoughts on what Harris said earlier in the week.

“Well, I had so many thoughts, but first and foremost, extreme disappointment and confusion at just how useless and futile and ineffective a strategy that is,” Ferrera said. “I know that Vice President Harris knows the stories too.”

“I have spent many years sitting in shelters, detention centers on this side of the border and on the other side of the border with, you know, Honduran families, Mexican families, Guatemalan families — hearing the stories of the violent and life-threatening circumstances they’re fleeing.”

The actress didn’t only share her disappointment and criticism of the vice president; she went after the entire Biden administration for adhering to the same immigration stance that the United States has used for decades.

“Quite honestly, as somebody who campaigned for, rallied, and voted for Biden and Harris — it’s a slap in the face for all of the immigrant advocates who believed, you know, what they promised, which was change and compassion,” Ferrera said.

“So they know better and they should do better and I’m not under the impression, never was, that we were electing perfect people.”

The Emmy Awards took place over the weekend, and although “The Daily Show” did not come away with any honors this year on Monday, Trevor Noah announced the second annual Pandemmy Awards.

Noah introduced various categories, including Best Original COVID Treatment, which has Ivermectin (aka the horse dewormer), which some have decided to use rather than getting the vaccine.

Another category from The Pandemmy Awards is Best Historical Adaptation. Fox News’ Tucker Carlson comparing the vaccinated to the unvaccinated to medical Jim Crow is one of the nominees. However, he’s not the only media member with a nomination for this award.

Candace Owens is also featured for her statement comparing the vaccinated to the unvaccinated to segregation. Other categories include Outstanding Achievement In Scapegoating and Best COVID-Supporting Governor.

Anyone looking to vote on these awards can head over right now to the Pandemmy Awards’ official site. The winners will be announced on Sept. 28.

Vice President Kamala Harris plans to make her first in-studio talk show appearance since taking over the position early this year when she appears on “The View” this Friday.

ABC announced that Harris will have an “exclusive interview discussing the latest on the COVID-19 pandemic such as vaccines, hesitancy, misinformation, and boosters.” She’ll talk to Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Ana Navarro.

Furthermore, she’ll be addressing some of the more critical issues facing the country today, including Afghanistan, immigration, and voting rights.

This won’t be the first time Harris appears on “The View” as it marks the vice president’s sixth time on “The View,” having joined the program during her time as United States senator for California.

Harris also becomes the second sitting vice president to appear on the talk show. In April 2010, “The View” made history when, for the first time, a sitting vice president was starred as a guest on the show when current United States President Joe Biden appeared live in studio.

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle deviated away from the normal left-wing talking points Monday, criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris for her role in the ongoing border crisis.

The Stephanie Ruhle Reports host said that people have stopped listening to Harris’ messaging when it comes to what’s going on at the U.S.-Mexico border.

“She was supposed to be in charge of all of these migration issues, going to those Northern Triangle countries — that’s obviously not Haiti — that was one of her first international trips with the message Do not come here illegally.”

NBC News correspondent Julia Ainsley defended Harris, adding that the VP is focused on her work with the Guatemalan government.

‘People aren’t listening. What is she saying now? Ruhle added.
