Skip Bayless is known for his off-the-wall hot takes, and that’s exactly where Undisputed went this morning when things got heated between him and co-host Jenny Taft.
The panel was discussing the first episode of HBO’s Hard Knocks, which premiered on Tuesday. Bayless, a documented health enthusiast, isn’t a fan of Mike McCarthy’s physique. He insinuated that the Dallas Cowboys head coach isn’t fit enough, literally and figuratively, to lead the most valuable sports franchise on the planet.
Bayless called McCarthy “a little heavy” and said that isn’t his preference when McCarthy is supposed to be motivating NFL players.
“Is everyone who’s a good coach as fit as you, Skip?” Jenny Taft asked her co-host as they were getting set for a commercial break. “I don’t think that’s a fair shot, whatsoever.”
“I said it was a personal preference,” Bayless retorted. “I wouldn’t want him to be my head coach.”
“I’ve actually had plenty of coaches that have not had the perfect ideal physique,” Taft responded. “Including my college coach. So I don’t think that’s a fair shot. I’m allowed to have an opinion, Skip. I’m allowed to say whatever I want to say on this show, as you do too.”
Shannon Sharpe tried to shield himself from the awkward tension but couldn’t hold back when Taft closed the segment declaring, “Maybe I have more to say, next.”
This back and forth isn’t the first awkward moment between Skip Bayless and Jenny Taft on the set of Undisputed.
The sports media world noticed the Fox Sports host and sideline reporter speaking up, with most supporting the direction she took on Wednesday’s show.
