News media members aren’t usually comfortable being part of the story. This one, however, is worth celebrating for Suzanne Spencer of Fox 6 News in Milwaukee, WI.
Two months after being diagnosed and treated for a benign brain tumor, the ‘Fox 6 Wake Up News’ anchor returned to the airwaves this past week.
The Milwaukee TV star initially posted about her condition on social media over the summer.
“Doing stories with people who have faced incredible challenges in life always reminds me how we never know what others are going through. One of the reasons I work as a journalist, is because I believe in transparency, truth, and the power of sharing stories. And so it feels right to share a piece of my journey with all of you,” she wrote on Facebook.
“Recently, I was having headaches that I could not shake, and other minor symptoms that I brushed off. After several weeks and multiple failed remedies, my husband had a gut feeling and was persistent about figuring out the source, “This is not normal. We need to rule some things out.”
JSOnline.com recapped that the tumor removed through the nose in an endoscopic endonasal procedure.
She discussed her journey during a special segment on their newscast.
Spencer also recently posted to Twitter to thank viewers for their support, revealing that she has had “many more good days than bad.”
She celebrated her reunion with co-anchors.
