“The View” Not Forthcoming to VP’s Staff Over False Positive COVID Tests

CNN reports that someone familiar with the issue states that VP Kamala Harris’ staff are concerned with “The View” handled the situation.

Last Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris made an appearance on “The View,” but the interview with the show ended up not being done in-person as it was initially intended.

After co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro had false COVID-19 test results, the show went into chaos, pulling the two from the set. CNNs Oliver Darcy reports that “The View” hosts were required to take a PCR test within 24 hours of the interview.

The night before the Harris’ appearance, the tests had come back negative. The vice president and her staff didn’t know the truth until the tense moment on live television when Hostin and Navarro were abruptly removed.

Following the bizarre moment, the Harris’ team was left perplexed and inquired about what happened, considering a spokesperson for “The View” provided the “all clear,” implying that the show had completed the conditions to continue with the taping.

CNN is also reporting that someone familiar with the issue states that Harris and her staff are concerned with how “The View” handled the situation.

“According to a person familiar with the matter, “The View” has not been forthcoming with the vice president’s office, leaving Harris’ staff “deeply concerned” about what happened,” Darcy reported.

“People familiar with the matter also said that ABC News President Kim Godwin, who was in attendance for the taping, was irked and embarrassed by the whole fiasco.”

Donald Trump: Chris Cuomo Suspension Is Great News for TV Viewers

Many are commenting on Chris Cuomo’s suspension, including the former president.

The news regarding CNN’s decision to suspend their anchor Chris Cuomo following the release of transcripts by New York Attorney General Letitia James detailed the extent of his aid to his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, was the top story around the media Wednesday.

Cuomo dealt with sexual harassment accusations made against him, resulting in the CNN anchor assisting his brother with the fallout. Many are commenting on the matter, including former President Donald Trump.

Trump stated that the indefinite suspension from CNN is “great news for television viewers.”

“The big question is, was it because of his horrendous ratings, which in all fairness have permeated CNN and MSDNC, or was it because his brother is no longer Governor?” Trump wrote in a statement. “Probably both.”

CNN provided their statement on issuing the suspension to Cuomo following the release of the transcripts.

“The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions. When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules, and we acknowledged that publicly. But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second,” the network said.

“However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew. As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation.”

Anderson Cooper will anchor the 9 p.m. slot on Tuesday, the CNN spokesperson said.

Embattled CNN anchor Chris Cuomo has been suspended indefinitely Tuesday in the wake of documents released by The New York Attorney General’s office that point to his attempts to help his brother Andrew Cuomo cover-up allegations of sexual misconduct.

The evidence includes text messages between Chris Cuomo and Melissa DeRosa, a then-top aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.  The messages revealed that Cuomo was willing to use his sources to smear the reputations of the former governor’s accusers.

“When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly,” the network said in a statement. “But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second.”

Anderson Cooper will anchor the 9 p.m. slot on Tuesday, the CNN spokesperson said.

In August Cuomo publicly denied serving as an advisor to his brother. The network reportedly warned Cuomo to stop communicating with his brother’s aides.

According to Ballotpedia, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) resigned on August 24. He first announced his resignation on August 10, saying, “Given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let the government get back to governing.

“I never attacked nor encouraged anyone to attack any woman who came forward. I never made calls to the press about my brother’s situation,” Cuomo said in August.

“The New York Attorney General’s office released transcripts and exhibits Monday that shed new light on Chris Cuomo’s involvement in his brother’s defense,” a CNN spokesperson said Tuesday evening. “The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions.”

CNN host Chris Cuomo continues to find himself when it comes to his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who resigned from the position following numerous allegations of sexual misconduct.

Records released Monday by the New York Attorney General’s office revealed that the CNN anchor was more involved in his brother’s situation.

The communication via emails and text where Cuomo asked Melissa DeRosa, the top aide to his brother, to assist the team in developing the former governor’s response to accusations of improper conduct made against him late last year.

“Please let me help with the prep,” Cuomo wrote to DeRosa in a text message on March 3. Then on March 7, DeRosa sent Cuomo a text stating, “Rumor going around from politico 1-2 more ppl coming out tomorrow.”

Cuomo didn’t discuss these documents released by New York’s attorney general showing how involved he was in advising his brother. However, a CNN spokesperson did provide comment on the matter as Deadline relayed the remarks.

“The thousands of pages of additional transcripts and exhibits that were released today by the NY Attorney General deserve a thorough review and consideration,” a spokesperson said.

“We will be having conversations and seeking additional clarity about their significance as they relate to CNN over the next several days.”
