NBC News’ Today, Al Roker Launching Cooking Podcast

Ahead of Thanksgiving, Roker plans to make a complete meal step by step with special guests

November is a few days away, which means the holidays are around the corner, and plenty of family gatherings will be occurring with food being on the table. NBC News wants to aid those cooking the meals for their family. 

NBC News’ TODAY and Al Roker are teaming up to help those with their cooking around the holiday season as the two parties announced the launch of a new original podcast called “Cooking Up a Storm with Al Roker.

Ahead of Thanksgiving, Roker plans to make a complete meal step by step with special guests taking part in each episode as they open up about the dishes they love and the stories behind the food. 

Upcoming guests and dishes include:

  • Parmesan Smashed Potatoes by Ina Garten
  • Low Country Oyster Cornbread Dressing with Crispy Slab Bacon by Alexander Smalls
  • Crisp & Juicy Herb Roasted Turkey by Sohla El-Waylly
  • Caramelized Brussel Sprouts by Marcus Samuelsson
  • Cranberry Wojape Sauce by Sean Sherman
  • Sweet Potato Plantain Pie by Maya-Camille Broussard

All six episodes of the podcast will be made available beginning November 1.

Fareed Zakaria Will Host Original Series on CNN+

Zakaria will decode the backstories of the power dynasties, revolutions, spy missions, missed opportunities, and history-shaping assassinations in his new series.

CNN continues adding content for their upcoming streaming platform CNN+, which will debut in the Spring. The latest to get a show is Fareed Zakaria will host “Flashpoints with Fareed Zakaria.”

Zakaria will decode the backstories of the power dynasties, revolutions, spy missions, missed opportunities, and history-shaping assassinations in his new series. He will help the audience comprehend how the world’s most dangerous people and locations have arrived at transformational tipping points.

“This is the history behind the headlines, the stories, people, and forces that created the crises of today,” Zakaria said in a statement about Flashpoints.

“The intriguing backstories that we delve into for Flashpoints have power, betrayal, espionage, and assassination. The storytelling is naturally as thrilling as a John Le Carré novel…except it all really happened,” Nancy Duffy, senior vice president of program development for CNN Worldwide, who oversees the Zakaria series, said. 

The program, filmed in a cinematic style, is expected to begin streaming as an anthology later in 2022 on CNN+.

ABC News Announces Three New Podcast Projects

The first two hours of Good Morning America will be available as podcasts along with “Close Up,” led by journalist Kelley Carter, and “Life Out Loud With LZ Granderson,”

ABC News has rolled out its podcast push with new content as they launch new series and adapt “Good Morning America for audio. 

The network announced the first two hours of GMA will be available as podcasts. Joining them on the new GMA Channel are “Close Up,” led by journalist Kelley Carter, and “Life Out Loud With LZ Granderson,” which will launch its second season.

“Close Up” will debut on Feb. 9, the day after the 2022 Oscar nominations are announced, and will dive into entertainment news and feature interviews with stars, directors, and other entertainment industry notables. 

Meanwhile, the first episode of season two of “Life Out Loud with LZ Granderson” is available now, with new episodes dropping every Thursday. The podcast sees Granderson analyzing timely issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community.

“ABC Audio has big podcast plans for 2022,” Liz Alesse, director and EP of ABC Audio’s podcast programming, said. “We are also continuing to expand our originals library with some exciting projects in the pipeline this year.” 

“On top of building out our lifestyle and culture content, we’re working on several long-form narrative projects. You can expect to see new true crime titles coming soon, and we’re gearing up for some exciting collaborations across ABC.”

Wolf Blitzer Will Host Evening News Program on CNN+

Blitzer will continue to host CNN’s “The Situation Room,” which provides the audience with in-depth reports about the day’s political, international, and breaking news stories.

CNN continues to announce content for their upcoming stream platform CNN+, which will debut in the spring. The latest contributing is CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer will host “The Newscast with Wolf Blitzer.”

“On “The Newscast,” Blitzer will give it to you straight, hitting the headlines you need to know on this traditional evening news show with a sleek, modern twist,” CNN said in a statement

“The old-school nostalgic approach featuring original reporting from around the world, investigations, and consumer-focused stories that matter help put the latest headlines in perspective.”

Blitzer will continue to host CNN’s “The Situation Room,” which provides the audience with in-depth reports about the day’s political, international, and breaking news stories.

It’s CNN’s second announcement this week regarding content coming to the network’s streaming platform. 

The cable news channel welcomed former NBA player Rex Champman to host an upcoming program where he’ll have “intimate conversations with athletes, entertainers, and everyday heroes as Chapman looks for the silver lining beyond today’s toughest headlines.”
