The news media reacts to Vice President Kamala Harris’ appearance on Comedy Central’s “The God’s Honest Truth” with Charlamagne Tha God.
Charlamagne, who has a history of asking tough questions from some of his political guests, asked Harris who the country’s “real president” was.
“It’s Joe Biden. And don’t start talking like a Republican about asking whether or not he’s president,” Harris told Charlamagne during the late Friday night interview.
Charlamagne’s line of questioning prompted one of Harris’ staffers to attempt to stop the interview.
Several commentators on Fox News’ “The Big Saturday Show” said there were some interesting takeaways from the interview.
“This is a fascinating display once again, when it comes to temperament when it comes to having a … really quite defensive,” said Tammy Bruce. “She’s talking to a guy who’s got a lot of influence. This is where you can really win and take over this argument.”
Fox News contributor Charlie Hurt said Charlamagne’s questions were fair and one that plenty of Americans are already asking.
“This idea of snapping at the questioner and accusing the questioner of being a Republican reveal not only the testiness on her part, and the desperation on her part, but how out of touch they are,” he said.
Meanwhile, on Twitter, journalists such as Aaron Rupar provided their thoughts on Harris’ appearance on the late-night show.
“I don’t understand how this video is supposed to be a bad look for Kamala Harris. It’s a terrible question that she ultimately answered as well as one can,” Rupar tweeted.
NBC News and MSNBC journalist Ayman Mohyeldin applauded the interview and questioned those who criticized Charlamagne.
“So are we really still gonna pretend to be upset about Charlamagne asking whether Joe Biden or Joe Manchin is the President after he single-handedly torpedoed a cornerstone of Biden’s domestic agenda?” Mohyeldin tweeted.
