Live Major League Baseball games come to Apple TV+ beginning Friday night. On the eve of the inaugural telecasts, Apple revealed its broadcast teams.
In the early game at 7 p.m., Mets at Nationals, Melanie Newman will be on play-by-play, with Chris Young and Hannah Keyser as the analysts. Brooke Fletcher will be at field level reporting on both teams.
In the late game at 9:30 p.m., Astros at Angels, play-by-play will be called by Stephen Nelson. Hunter Pence and Katie Nolan will be analysts, and Heidi Watney will be reporting.
This is the second time Nolan has popped up on national TV since exiting ESPN last year. She was also part of NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics in February.
Pre and postgame coverage will be hosted by Lauren Gardner, and she’ll be joined by a rotating group of analysts and former MLB players. Carlos Pena, Cliff Floyd and Yonder Alonso were three names mentioned.
Apple says the broadcast teams for Friday Night Baseball will be revealed on a weekly basis.
The company also released more information about additional programming coming to Apple TV+. For fans in the U.S. and Canada, 24/7 live programming with game replays, news, highlights and classic games is on its way.
A weekly show, Countdown to First Pitch, and a daily morning show, MLB Daily Recap, were also announced, as well as a whip-around show called MLB Big Inning which will feature live look-ins and in-game highlights every weeknight.
