A former Baltimore radio host who departed WBAL Radio last week has decided to run for a U.S. House of Representatives seat.

Yuripzy Morgan announced her campaign for the Republican nomination on Monday. She has been the host of the “Yuripzy Morgan Show” since 2019. Morgan said she will miss her radio family, but she can no longer sit back and watch as issues go unresolved.

“I’m running for Congress District 2,” Morgan said in an Instagram post. “I can’t just talk about the issues; I have to fix them. We have a long way to go and a short amount of time to get there.”

During her press conference Monday, Morgan took aim at Maryland politicians who she said have been in office for far too long.

“Places like Baltimore, Dundalk, Essex, Glen Burnie, Brooklyn Park – you helped build this state and this country,” she said. “These politicians may have forgotten you, but I won’t. I won’t because I still believe in the America that you helped build.”

According to WBAL Radio, Morgan came in fourth during a previous run for the 2nd Congressional District in 2016.

As for Morgan’s old show, newcomer Kimberly Klacik will fill the void until management decides what to do with the daypart.

Bill Handel: More People Listen to My Show on Devices Than On AM Radio

“The world has changed completely.”

The media landscape has seen seismic shifts in recent years. KFI-AM 640 morning host Bill Handel is keenly aware of that fact by looking at how listeners consume his program.

While discussing the decline of TV advertising revenue, Handel noted that that medium is plagued by many of the same issues he faces in radio.

“Television advertising is now on its way down. Same thing with radio advertising. Let me give you an idea of streaming versus broadcast. More people listen to this show and other shows on KFI, and other radio stations, streaming on devices than listen to the radio right now,” Handel said. “Man, has life changed.”

He added that when he used to speak to law students, they would ask about the best ways to get notoriety and attention. Bill Handel said he appeared in a segment on 60 Minutes in 1983 that was watched by 35 million people. He joked that was his advice to them, but simply wouldn’t work today.

“Today, I wouldn’t even say that. Get a good social media program and campaign. That’s where you’re gonna get business. The world has changed completely.”

The Total Money Makeover is one of the best-selling personal finance books of all time. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Dave Ramsey is publishing an expanded and updated version.

After selling more than nine million copies of the book, Ramsey has expanded the offering to include his personal finance principles, along with updated statistics about various topics including student loans, mortgages, car loans, and retirement investments and savings.

“The plan is still simple, and millions of people have done it. You can solve your biggest problem with the least complicated finance book out there. It’s the stories of everyday people in TMMO that makes it so powerful and inspiring,” said Ramsey. “They’re the real heroes. Their stories of real-life change are all the proof you need that this stuff really works.”

The book is listed by BookAuthority as one of the 20 best personal finance books ever written and has spent more than 1,000 weeks on best-seller lists. More than 400,000 copies of the publication are sold each year.

New York billionaire John Catsimatidis has resurrected 77 WABC into a talk radio power under his tutelage. And it appears as if his Red Apple Media company may be on the precipice of adding another radio station to its holdings.

While appearing on Sid and Friends in the Morning Monday, Catsimatidis addressed the recent decision by the station to suspend and ultimately cancel the weekday afternoon program helmed by former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

When asked by Sid Rosenberg if Catsimatidis could envision working with Giuliani again, the billionaire wouldn’t close that book but added an interesting tidbit.

“Anything is possible. We’re buying another station soon. We have a letter of intent that’s been sent out. So anything’s possible,” Catsimatidis said. “Never say never.”

The billionaire officially took over 77 WABC on March 1st, 2020 after purchasing the station from Cumulus Media. In addition to the venerable New York news/talk station, the company also owns 107.1 Talk Radio WLIR, which is licensed to Hampton Bays, New York on Long Island.
