Texas Tech along with their media rights holder Learfield announced a nine-year extension with Ramar Communications to broadcast Red Raider athletics.

“We value Ramar Communications’ continued focus and coverage on Texas Tech Athletics,” said the University’s athletic director Kirby Hocutt. “It is unique in today’s media environment to have such strong, locally owned stations.”

As part of the new agreement, Hocutt will host his own radio show, broadcast by the Ramar cluster which will debut August 29th.  “I’m excited to be able to further strengthen direct communication with our fans by debuting this new weekly show,” the Red Raider AD added.

Texas Tech athletics will be served by the Ramar Communications cluster with Sports KTTU (Double T 97.3) in Lubbock, TX continuing to broadcast football, men’s basketball and baseball.  Texas Tech football will also be heard on Magic 106.5, with women’s basketball on 107.7 YES FM.  950AM and 100.7 The Score will air both football and women’s basketball.

“It’s been an honor to be the Red Raiders’ flagship station, and we look forward to continuing to deliver the highest quality of game broadcasts for the fans, alumni and community who don’t want to miss a moment,” said Ramar President and GM Brad Moran. “We’re also excited to unveil for Red Raider fans our show with Mr. Hocutt and bring a whole new aspect of the university they love to the airwaves.”

In addition to airing games, Double T 97.3 and The Score will also broadcast coaches’ shows and offer daily Texas Tech updates.  Red Raider football begins with a home game Saturday September 1st against Ole Miss.
