Following a near six-month absence while fighting breast cancer, Linda Welby now cancer free, made her full return to The Mighty 1090 in San Diego on Monday.  Welby, who joined the station in 2004, worked as a regular contributor to The Scott and BR Show, hosted by Scott Kaplan and Billy Ray Smith, although Billy Ray has taken a reduced role since last spring.

After being diagnosed with cancer in June, Welby left the show to have surgery and begin chemotherapy the following month.  Listeners were kept updated on Welby’s status by Kaplan and her name was often mentioned on the program even in her absence.  Welby still made occasional appearances from home and during remote broadcasts including the show’s holiday party last month.

On December 21st, Welby was officially cancer free and returned to the studio to ceremoniously remove the pink wall created for her by The Scott and BR Show in support of team #Lindastrong.  On Monday, Welby returned to the studio once again, but now to everyone’s joy, it’s once again as a full-time member of The Scott and BR Show.

With the Chargers heading to New England for their Divisional Round playoff game this weekend, Welby’s return to The Mighty 1090 comes at the perfect time, being that she’s a Boston native and Patriots fan.  The Scott and BR Show can be heard weekdays from 3 – 6pm PT on The Mighty 1090.
