Joel Klatt Doesn’t Know Who The Avengers Are

“Stay tuned, this may not be the last we’ve heard of Joel Klatt vs comic book fans.”

Full disclosure, I cannot list The Avengers without using the Google machine, so I wouldn’t have flinched if a sports announcer tells me Superman is part of Marvel’s elite class of superheroes. But Superman is not part of the Avengers, and when Joel Klatt made the blunder of associating the DC superhero with Marvel, he quickly heard about it on Twitter.

During Klatt’s call of Ohio State and Penn State this past Saturday on FOX, he compared throwing downfield on the Buckeyes defense to going up against “Superman and The Avengers.”

Naturally, social media wanted to assure the former college football quarterback and current FOX Sports analyst knew his mistake. Klatt later tweeted he’s “not gonna lose much sleep over a failed comic reference,” and while he may not have lost sleep over the blunder, he certainly seemed to enjoy addressing it with his social media critics.

Klatt’s even working to recruit Superman to The Avengers in what seemed like an improbable attempt to unite DC and Marvel Comics.

Much to some people’s surprise, Klatt’s claim may not have been so crazy after all. A few on Twitter came to his defense, informing the masses that there has been a DC and Marvel crossover series featuring Superman’s Justice League of America with The Avengers.

Stay tuned, this may not be the last we’ve heard of Joel Klatt vs comic book fans. Keep an ear out for Klatt to use the reference again this Saturday.
