Charleston, South Carolina’s Jamie Bradford and Darren Goldwater announced they’re teaming up for a new digital radio show that will air weekdays beginning next Monday.

Last December, Bradford was let go by Kirkman Broadcasting after three years as a morning and midday host on ESPN 98.9 in Charleston. His new co-host, Darren Goldwater is a longtime broadcaster, providing play-by-play for various college sports, having also previously worked for Kirkman Broadcasting as a producer and on-air contributor.

The duo recorded and published two test shows earlier this week, but the official launch of The JB and Goldwater Show comes next Monday, April 13 at 2pm. The show will air live every weekday for two hours on Podbean, allowing for caller interaction. Every show will also be available for download as a podcast.

In an interview with Frank Mansfield of The Gazette, Goldwater said he reached out after Bradford was let go from his ESPN gig late last year. He pitched the show idea and Bradford was quickly interested.

“There’s nothing in this area doing what we want to do, not in that time slot and not available to download and listen to later like that,” Bradford told Mansfield. “We’re there for the people who want their sports radio live in the afternoon. And we’re there for the people who like things more on-demand too.”

Bradford already has plenty of recording equipment in his home office, which is where they’ll do the daily show, sitting across from each other at least six feet apart as they noted during one of their test episodes.

While having no live sports to discuss might not seem like the optimal time to launch a sports show, Bradford and Goldwater view it as the right time to carve their niche.

“Circumstances can dictate your actions at times,” Goldwater added to The Gazette. “When I saw the local stuff was off the air, I texted Jamie.” Shortly after, they’re ready to roll.
