Call it an NFL invasion. ESPN released its studio lineups for college football coverage in 2020 and two names that used to be part of the network’s NFL coverage are playing big roles in the college game this year.

Booger McFarland, who exits Monday Night Football after two seasons will now be part of ABC’s studio team every Saturday. He will join host Kevin Neghandi and former USC quarterback Mark Sanchez in pregame and halftime analysis. McFarland will also be a part of Monday Night Countdown this fall, making his weekends very busy.

Wendi Nix also gets a new role. She will become the primary host of College Football Live after spending the last three seasons hosting NFL Live. It represents a return to college coverage for Nix, she had previously hosted studio coverage on Saturdays on ESPN 2.College Football Live will air Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on ESPN 2.

Like McFarland, Nix also keeps a toe in NFL waters. She will host NFL Rewind every Monday on ESPN. The show will recap highlights from the Sunday games.

ESPN’s college football studio coverage starts this Saturday. The network will air the College GameDay Preview Show beginning at 11 am on the East Coast. Race Davis will be in Bristol while Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and David Pollack will all broadcast from their respective homes. Perhaps that is when ESPN will announce what the show’s plan will be for the 2020 season.
