Dominique Foxworth Tells Black Quarterback Critics To Be Specific

Foxworth recognized a trend in the way black QBs are discussed.

It seems every year a highly-touted quarterback prospect falls down draft boards out of nowhere. Justin Fields has worn that scarlet letter over the past week and ESPN NFL analyst Dominique Foxworth wants to make sure Fields gets a fair shake.

“I think it’s important to put specifics to our analysis,” Foxworth said on Get Up. “I’m not saying that it’s not true, but it’s understandable that the racial biases that we have often leak into all parts of our lives, including football analysis.”

The topic blew up earlier this week when fellow ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky went on Pat McAfee’s Sirius XM radio show and relayed comments he was hearing about Fields.

“I have heard that he is a last-guy-in, first-guy-out type of quarterback. Like, not the maniacal work ethic,” Orlovsky answered, prefacing it by noting the claim was not his opinion. “I’ve even heard it compared to Justin Herbert, where it was like, dude, when Justin Herbert showed up, he was like a psychopath when it came to working and get ready for the draft. Or even at school, like, ‘Give me more, I want to work non-stop.’ And I’ve heard that there are issues with Justin Fields’ work ethic.”

Foxworth has been at the forefront of discussing social issues during his time at ESPN. This latest stance was met with praise in the NFL world.
