One of the Inside the NBA crew’s favorite punchlines appears to be no more. Charles Barkley has fixed his golf swing! A video of Barkley hitting a ball off the tee at an Alabama charity golf tournament is raising eyebrows for all of the right reasons.
There’s no more hitch. The yips appear to be gone!
The shot, which was taken as part of the pro am event at the PGA Champions Tour Regions Tradition, was met with loud applause from the crowd. Fellow Auburn sports legend Bo Jackson was even there to greet Barkley with a big hug to celebrate.
Charles Barkley’s golf swing has been well-tread territory for comedy on television. He was the focus of a Golf Channel series about fixing broken swings. He was also included in Turner’s The Match event last year, teaming with Phil Mickelson in a victory over Steph Curry and Peyton Manning.
Perhaps even more unbelievable is just how far Barkley has come. The former go-to punchline of the golf world now has a single digit handicap according to Drew Carter of CBS 42 in Birmingham.
That is very different from the game that was so infamous that even former President Barack Obama couldn’t resist poking fun at it during a visit with Chuck and Shaquille O’Neal to promote awareness of the Covid-19 vaccine earlier this month.
