Urlacher Quits Fox Sports 1

Brian Urlacher is leaving Fox Sports 1, telling the network he is quitting in order to “dedicate my time to my family.”

The former Chicago Bears linebacker, who retired last year, worked his last “America’s Pregame” and “Fox NFL Kickoff” shows Sunday.

“I have enjoyed the work, so this is a tough decision, but right now it’s best for me to dedicate my time to my family,” he said in a statement released by Fox. “I’ve enjoyed my time at Fox Sports and want to thank all of the people who helped create the opportunity for me, especially Eric Shanks, John Entz, Jay Glazer, Joel Klatt, Curt Menefee, Randy Moss, and the dedicated production and support personnel I worked with over the last year.”

Although there had been whispers about a return (especially after the Dallas Cowboys lost Sean Lee), that never materialized.

“We want to thank Brian for his effort and contributions since helping us launch the network last August,” Fox Sports Executive Vice President, Production/Executive Producer John Entz said. “While we looked forward to having him as a member of the team this season and beyond, we understand his decision and wish him the best.”
