NBC Universal continues to ramp up its content with the announcement of a brand new sports show featuring former ESPN personality Michael Smith, and former WEEI host turned host and columnist for NBC Boston, Michael Holley. The daily show will be three hours long, and debut in September.
Titled “Brother From Another”, Smith and Holley will stream their show live weekday afternoons from 3p-6p ET on Peacock. The two longtime friends and co-hosts will co-executive produce the show, and create conversations around the latest sports news, politics, entertainment, and culture.
“When coming up with our show’s name and thinking about the vibe we wanted to create, we kept coming back to just that — family — and to this brotherhood,” Smith said. “We want this show and the conversations between us and with our guests to feel relatable — literally. As in, if you’re giving us time out of your day, then you’re family to us.”
“Viewers will immediately sense our authenticity and honesty with one another,” added Holley. “We became colleagues by covering similar events in sports. We became brothers when we shared our experiences in that space, as well as other aspects of our lives. We’re excited to now bring our discussions to Peacock.”
NBC launched Peacock on July 15th and have been steadily adding a mixture of free and paid programming. The company announced they had over 10 million people sign up for the service by the end of July.
“There’s certainly an appetite for honest, intelligent conversation while having some fun, and Michael and Michael have established reputations for delivering that kind of commentary,” shared Rick Cordella, EVP and chief revenue officer at Peacock. “Peacock is always on, always topical, so we are proud to be the exclusive platform for their new show.”
NBC’s sports programming be available on a new free, ad-supported channel, NBC Sports on Peacock, starting on August 24th. The channel will include “PFT Live with Mike Florio,” “The Dan Patrick Show” and “The Rich Eisen Show.”
