NFL Network Cuts Melissa Stark, Andrew Siciliano, James Palmer, and Will Selva

The move of the job eliminations comes as the network prepares to move its popular Good Morning Football away from New York to its own Los Angeles studios.

Cost-cutting at NFL Network continues as the outlet has eliminated the jobs held by Melissa Stark, Andrew Siciliano, James Palmer, and Will Selva.

According to a report from The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, the league-owned network slashed the jobs amid a round of cuts as it looks to trim its budget ahead of any potential sale or merger with another media entity.

“As is normal course of business this time of year, we are evaluating our talent roster for the upcoming 2024 season and beyond,” NFL Network spokesperson Alex Riethmiller said. “That process results in renewals, non-renewals and additions to our talent lineup depending on programming needs. To those departing talent, we give our sincere thanks and appreciation for their hard work and contributions to NFL Media.”

Melissa Stark — who will remain the sideline reporter for Sunday Night Football on NBC — was part of the network’s event coverage staff.

A longtime staple of the network, Andrew Siciliano was host of DirecTV’s RedZone package before the league moved the platform to YouTubeTV in 2023. Siciliano joined the network in 2005.

Palmer was a league-wide reporter for the outlet, a job he held for nearly a decade.

In a post to X, Palmer shared the news of his departure.

“It was a dream job and I loved every minute of it. And that’s mostly because of the people that I got to work with and the friendships that will last well beyond any “job”. I’m excited for what’s to come,” wrote Palmer. “Not sure what that is exactly, I’ve learned a lot in the last decade at NFL Network and I’m better for it.”

Will Selva joined NFL Network in 2013 and served as an anchor and podcast host during his time with the outlet.

The move of the job eliminations comes as the network prepares to move its popular Good Morning Football away from New York to its own Los Angeles studios. The show — hosted by Jamie Erdahl, Peter Schrager, Kyle Brandt, and Jason McCourty — is on hiatus until late August as it moves to the West Coast. Erdahl and Brandt have both signaled their intentions to remain with the program, while the futures of Schrager and McCourty are less clear.

Sports Media Reacts to Patrick Beverley’s Bizarre Postgame Behavior

“I’ve been in news for over 40 years and kindness and grace always win.”

Screengrab of Patrick Beverley talking to reporters

After the Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated from the NBA playoffs last evening, Patrick Beverley sat at his locker taking questions from the sports media. One such person in the scrum was ESPN producer Malinda Adams and apparently, she was unaware that you can only talk to Beverley if you subscribe to his podcast.

“Do you subscribe to my pod?” Beverley asks Adams. “Do I subscribe to your pod? I do not,” she said. “You can’t interview me then. No disrespect,” Beverley said. He then added, “Can you move that mic and get out of the circle for me please, ma’am? If you’re not subscribed to my pod? Thank you, I appreciate that.”

Adams posted today on her X account, “I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support. I am humbled. Patrick Beverley just called me and apologized. I appreciate it and accept it. The Bucks also reached out to apologize. I’ve been in news for over 40 years and kindness and grace always win.”

It was a tough night for Beverley as not only did this happen, but he was also caught on camera throwing a basketball at Indiana Pacers fans. He didn’t do it just once, however, he did it twice. That incident caused Charles Barkley to say on TNT following the game, “Listen, I’ve done stupid stuff and I got criticized. That’s just wrong. He’s gonna get suspended for that. And that’s gonna be a good one, too. ‘Cause he didn’t do it once. He did it twice.”

Many in sports media weighed in on the subject, including several of Adams’ current and former colleagues:

Jack Edwards Signs Off as the Voice of the Boston Bruins

“The past 19 years, to witness and describe some of the greatest moments in the New England sports pantheon has been a thrill of a lifetime.”

Jack Edwards said goodbye to the Boston Bruins fans last night after the team fell 2-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs to force a Game 7 in their NHL playoff series. The Leafs tied the series with the win, however, a network will pick up the last game and should the Bruins advance, there will be no more local TV.

Edwards, 67, announced in mid-April he would step down after 19 years as the voice of the Bruins. Edwards has been dealing with an ongoing health issue which has seen him slurring and slowing down his words at an increasing rate.

“The past 19 years, to witness and describe some of the greatest moments in the New England sports pantheon has been a thrill of a lifetime,” said Edwards. “I want to thank every employee at NESN, especially our production team…”

Edwards continued, “Most of all, I want to thank my broadcast partner Andy Brickley. You’re the brother I never had until I started working with you. And it’s been a joy ride for 19 years. And this is my goodbye.”

“I have four brothers, but now I have five,” Brickley responded. “Absolutely a pleasure working with you, Jack. Great call again tonight. Tremendous finish. It would have been storybook had [the Bruins] won a Game 5 at home, go out in that fashion for you personally. And given the situation with this series, it might have been even more storybook had we been able to broadcast Game 7.”

It has been an emotional week for Boston sports fans as earlier in the week, Celtics play-by-play voice Mike Gorman called his final game for the team. Gorman had been with the Celtics for 43 years.
